FAQ’s

How does therapy work?

Together we create a space for your story to be told and witnessed. Finally saying out loud all the thoughts in your head, sharing a deep and painful moment or childhood, or speaking what feels unspeakable for the first time. It is truly body and life changing to share who you are. I am honored to listen and reflect with you.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes or 75 minutes long. I prefer to do 75 minutes for couples so there is enough time to feel, share and process.

How long do I need to do therapy for?

This depends on a few things like past history, current needs that you notice and what I see that might be an added need. I’m open to discussing this with you once we are a few sessions in so that I can make an accurate assessment.

Do I take insurance?

Unfortunately, no. I am happy to provide you with invoices and super-bills so that you can submit to your insurance provider. Any reimbursement will come directly to you in the mail. I recommend that you contact your provider to ask about your “out-of-network” coverage and what your deductible is. Additionally, how to submit your claims (invoices and super-bills).

What is the cancellation policy?

Please notify me 48 hours before you session is scheduled. If you are unable to do so I will charge the card on file due to a missed session unless there has been a hospital admission. Life happens so I try to be as graceful as possible while holding boundaries for the practice.

Do you offer Zoom or in-person sessions?

I offer both.

What is the No Surprises Act?

No Surprises Act: This provider isn’t in your health plan’s network and is considered out-of-network. This means the provider doesn’t have an agreement with your plan to provide services. Getting care from this provider will likely cost you more.

If your plan covers the item or service you’re getting, federal law protects you from higher bills when:

  • You’re getting emergency care from an out-of-network provider or facility, or

  • An out-of-network provider is treating you at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center without getting your consent to receive a higher bill.

Ask your health care provider or patient advocate if you’re not sure if these protections apply to you.

Be aware that you may pay more because:

  • You’re giving up your legal protections from higher bills.

  • You may owe the full costs billed for the items and services you get.

  • Your health plan might not count any of the amount you pay towards your deductible and out-of-pocket limit. Contact your health plan for more information.

*If you become involved in legal proceedings that require participation by your therapist you will be expected to pay for all of the therapist's professional time, at my clinical hourly rate, including preparation and transportation costs, even if the therapist is called to testify by another party. You will also be expected to pay any legal costs incurred by Relational Wellness Counseling in responding to the legal proceedings. I am not available to testify in court cases as an expert.
